Setting-Up Your New BooNet Account with Windows XP

I. Creating a Dial-Up Networking Connection

Follow these instructions to use the Wizard to connect to BooNet. The installation should take about 3 minutes.

Go to Start, then Control Panel.

On the Control Panel, click on Network and Internet Connections.

Then scroll down to the bottom and click on Network Connections.

Click on Create a new connection.

Click Next

The New Connection Wizard begins ...

On the New Connection Wizard hit Next.

On the Network Connection Type window, select Connect to the Internet

Click Next

On the Getting Ready window, select Set up my connection manually

Click Next

On the Internet Connection window, select Connect using a dial-up modem

Click Next

On the Connection Name window, type BooNet (This is a label)

Click Next

On the Phone Number to Dial window, type the dialup number in
XXX-XXX-XXXX format
(Find the BooNet Phone Number to Dial for your area)

Click Next

On the Internet Account Information window, Enter the following information:

Your BooNet User name and password.
These values were should have been selected by you when you set up your account. The user name should be entered with the "@boo.net" such as boouser@boo.net


THESE VALUES ARE CASE SENSITIVE AND MUST BE ENTERED ACCURATELY.

Put a check in the boxes labeled Use this account name and password when ... and Add a shortcut to this connection to my desktop.

Click Next

You have completed the New Connection Wizard

Click Finish

Congratulations! You have now successfully set up Windows XP to connect to the internet using your BooNet dial-up account.

Click Next


II. Fix Default Network Settings.

CLICK the START button. CLICK CONTROL PANEL

DOUBLE-CLICK on Network Connections

RIGHT-CLICK on the BooNet connection icon and CLICK PROPERTIES on the menu
(You will find properties at the Bottom of the drop-down menu)

CLICK the Networking tab near the top of the Properties Window.

CLICK the Settings Button located 25% of the way down the Networking Properties window.

In the PPP Settings window, Remove the checks from Enable LCP extensions and Negotiate multi-link for single link
(Please make sure that Enable software compression is checked)

CLICK OK and then CLICK OK again to close the windows and save changes
