Setting up your New BooNet Account with MAC 9.1

I. Configure a Dial-Up Connection using Internet Setup Assistant in MAC 9.1 and above

Follow these instructions to use the Wizard to connect to BooNet. The installation should take about 10 minutes.

  1. Double click the Internet Setup Assistant icon.
  2. "Would you like to setup your computer to use the internet?" Select ‘YES’.
  3. "Do you already have internet access?" Select ‘YES’. This will display the introduction window. Read it and click the right arrow button.
  4. Configuration name and connection type window will open.
  5. Connection Name = boonet
    Connection Type = modem

  6. Using the Port pop-up menu, select the port where your modem is connected. Click the right arrow button to display the Configuration Information window.
  7. Enter your local access phone number
    Enter your user ID (username@boo.net)
    Enter your password

    Click the right arrow button.

  8. The PPP Connect Scripts window opens. Select ‘NO’ and click the right arrow button.
  9. The IP Address window opens. Select ‘NO’ and click the right arrow button.
  10. The DNS window opens. Enter the following DNS addresses (hitting return between each one):
  11. 162.33.160.100
    162.33.160.110

    Click the right arrow button.

  12. The E-mail Address and Password window opens.
  13. E-mail address = username@boo.net
    Password = your selected password

    Click the right arrow button.

  14. The E-mail Account and Host Computer window opens. Enter boo.net as your POP Account and your SMTP Host. Click the right arrow button.
  15. The optional Newsgroup Host Computer window opens. Enter pnews.boo.net and click the right arrow button.
  16. The Proxies window opens. Select ‘NO’ and click the right arrow button.
  17. The Conclusion window opens. Check Connect when finished and click the Go Ahead button. The software will now connect to the ISP.

II. Check Network Settings and Remote Access on Macintosh

  1. TCP/IP Control Panel
  2. Select Apple Menu > Control Panels > TCP/IP and the TCP/IP control panel will appear. The following options should be set:

    Connect Via dropdown box – Select PPP
    Configure dropdown box
    – Select Using PPP Server
    IP Address, Subnet Mask, and Router Address
    – Select Will be Supplied by Server
    Name Server Address
    – Type in 162.33.160.100 and 162.33.160.110
    Search Domains
    – Type in boo.net

    If any changes were made to the TCP/IP control panel select save changes when prompted.

  3. Remote Access Control Panel
  4. Select Apple Menu > Control Panels > Remote Access and the Remote Access control panel will appear.

    Verify that the Title Bar shows boonet. This means that boonet is the current and active configuration.
