Your New BooNet Account with Windows 2000
I. Creating a Dial-Up Networking Connection
Follow these instructions to use the Wizard to connect to BooNet. The
installation should take about 10 minutes.
- Click Start, point to Settings, and
then click Network and Dial-up Connections.
- Click or double
click on "Make New Connection." This will start the Network Connection Wizard. Go ahead click on next.
- Select Dial-up to the Internet on the Network Connection Type
then click next. It will bring you to the Internet Connection Wizard.
- On the Internet Connection Wizard, select
I want to setup my Internet connection manually then click next.
- On the Internet account connection information type in the phone number you dial to connect to BooNet. To see full listing of access numbers, click here
- Make sure that
"United States
of America"
shows in the box labeled "Country
Code."
- Click on Next.
- Click on Advanced.
- On the Connection Type select PPP (Point to Point Protocol) then click OK
- You should be back in the Internet account connection information
Click on next.
- You are now on the Internet account logon information. Enter your name
and password in the boxes provided. These are the user name and password
you requested and are confirmed in your introductory letter. The user name should be enter as username@boo.net. THESE
ARE CASE SENSITIVE SO MAKE SURE YOU TYPE THEM ALL CORRECTLY.
- Click on next.
- This is the end of setting up Windows 2000 Internet Connection. Completing the Internet Connection Wizard, give a check To connect to the Internet immediatele, and then click finish. It will created the new "boonet" icon on the Network and Dial-up Connection
- You are back on the Network and Dial-up Connection. Hightlight the "boonet" icon, Right-click and click on Connect. Verify the information on the User Name and Password, give check on the Save Password. And click Dial. You should here the modem dial and connect.
II. Put the connection on your desktop.
- Go to Network and Dial-up Connections. Right-Click on the "boonet".
- Select Create Short Cut. I t will pop new windows which is saying "Windows cannot create a shortcut here. Do you want the shortcut to be placed on the desktop instead? " Click on yes. By doing this you crate a shortcut four your Boonet connection on your desktop.
III. Check Network Settings.
- Go to the Start button then select Settings and then select Control Panel option.
- Double-click on the Network and Dial-up Connections icon.
- Right Click on your BooNet, then select Properties on the popup menu. You will get the BooNet properties window.
- Then click on the Networking tab, make sure Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) is checked. Then highlight it, and click the Properties button.
- Make sure there is dot next to Obtain an IP address automatically.
- Make sure there is a dot next to Obtain DNS server address automatically.
- Click OK, then click OK again. You should now be set to go.
