Domains and Websites - FAQ
How
do I register a new Domain Name?
When an account
is activated with a new domain, we will automatically send the registration
information to Network Solutions (InterNIC). The information normally takes
around 24 hours for InterNIC to process, and the domain takes about 72
hours to propagate through the Internet.
I
can't find my webpage at my new domain! What's wrong?
Several things
might be occuring. If you have just set up your domain, remember it can
take up to 96 hours for this information to propagate through the Internet.
Some ISPs cache web pages and, for their customers, it may take longer
to find your domain and web page. Can you reach any domain (for example,
www.boo.net
If not, your Internet connection may be down. Please call us at (877) 874-4266
if you suspect this is the case.
How
do I transfer my existing domain?
When you transfer
your domain to BooNet, we will send mail to InterNIC to transfer the domain
after your account is activated. You should keep the site at its present
location until InterNIC has completed the transfer. Once the current Administrative
Contact acknowledges the move, InterNIC will update their records. After
this, it takes about 72 hours for this information to propegate through
the Internet.
My
images don't load!
Remember, Unix
filenames are case-sensitive. Therefore, if you have a link to "Image.gif"
and the file on the server is "image.gif" it will not work because your
html is referencing the wrong file.
I've
made changes to my webpage, and it doesn't show!
You may need to
purge the files from your browsers cache files before the pages reload
from the server. For Netscape Navigator, go to Edit/Preferences/Advanced/Cache
and clear both memory cache and disk cache.
